Our Feature Album for March | Matahara’s ‘Triple Alliteration’

23 Mar 2021

Introducing our Feature Album for March - Matahara’s debut EP, ‘Triple Alliteration’!

‘Matahari’ means ‘sun’ in Indonesian - and Matahara is the name for Melbourne/Naarm singer-songwriter Marissa Yudinar. Just like the sun, the 21-year-old makes pop music to give light and warmth to everyone around her - drawing inspiration from alternative pop, dream pop, hip-hop and dance music.

The debut EP, released on 19th March 2021, features Matahara’s previous successful releases ‘Alas, Alas’, ‘Missify’ and 'What a Waste' - which were added to rotation on FBi Radio - and new track ‘Blue Dreams’.

‘Blue Dreams’ is produced by Michael Vinci-Moin. With her soft, warm vocals and dreamy instrumentals, Matahara has us daydreaming all day. The track explores the struggle Matahara goes through when connecting with people in a romantic way. The lyrics convey the little thoughts in her mind, looking back at the experiences she has gained from her past romantic relationships.

“If only I could mash them up together, he would be the boy of my dreams. I haven’t yet met the boy of my dreams.” -Matahara

‘Blue Dreams’ has been added to Spotify Asia’s .ORG playlist soon after its release and has been selected as the cover of the playlist - already showing some amazing results in such a short period of time!

Recently winning the Triple J Unearthed Collab competition, Matahara is anticipating a collaborative songwriting session with Nick Littlemore (PNAU, Empire of the Sun) and is planning to release a new single in mid-2021. With airplay, editorial and competition support from FBi Radio, Triple J Unearthed and impressive playlisting on DSPs, Matahara is one to watch in 2021.
