Meet Our Feature Artist For March | Patrick James 12 Mar 2019 Summer is over but don’t fret! There’s still loads to look forward to with our March feature artist Patrick James. Celebrating the release of his sophomore EP What We’re Fighting For, multi-instrumentalist, indie, pop, folk extraordinaire is back and better than ever. Busting into the scene with his 2015 debut album ‘Outlier’ James’ standout track ‘Bugs’ attained upwards of 1.3 million plays on Spotify. Following this up with a stream of headline and support shows alongside the likes of Boy & Bear, The Paper Kites and Emma Louise as well as British Powerhouse Bear’s Den, Patrick's first EP laid a strong foundation for the artist. James still thinks of himself as a bedroom songwriter, reflected wholly in his unique, familiar and incredibly relatable sound. The EP takes you musically and lyrically through the ups and downs of personal experience; trying to balance relationships, mental health and financial struggles. Poetically telling a story of maturity and letting go of the past, the five track EP reflects a process everyone has been through at some stage. Smooth, soulful chord progressions along side crisp percussion, light and catchy synth lines and easy to follow lyrics make the project cruise smoothly across the emotional waves. The first teaser of the EP, ‘UP’ has received upwards of 130,000 plays on Spotify and has been featured on their ‘New Music Friday AU & NZ’ and 'Unwind' playlists as well as Apple Music ‘Best of The Week’. The EP’s title track ‘What We’re Fighting For’ has scored Spotify's heralded ‘New Music Friday AUS/NZ’ and Apple Music’s ‘Best of The Week’ too. Fancy a little more Patrick in your life?
