We're back with fresh releases from Prudns, koady, Camille Trail, Squid the Kid, and Pretty Moi to kickstart your weekend!
I play piano and sing (EP) - Prudns
Focus track 'Rectify' is a captivating piano ballad from Prudns' EP 'I play piano and sing', exploring themes of love and pain with heartfelt vulnerability. Written after her first breakup at 18 and recorded again recently in one take, 'Rectify' dives deep into the universal desire to be loved and find peace from pain. Known for her hyper-ethereal-pop album 'NEXT' and stripped-back piano style, Prudns fearlessly explores her sound. Featured on Apple Music's 'Wildflower' and 'New Music Daily', and supported by Triple J and 4ZZZ, Prudns is an independent artist to watch.
prozac - koady
'Prozac', seamlessly blends lofi guitars with jungle-esque breaks, creating a genre-blurring track.
"Prozac is the first song I ever truly finished. I had just come out of a massive low and writing this track and making the video definitely helped me find my path again," says koady. Recommended for fans of Jean Dawson, Nick Ward, and Mk.Gee, koady’s DIY ethos shines through his music and collaborations with artists like Maxwell Byrne (1tbsp/Golden Vessel) and Campbell Burns (Vacations).
Magic Trick (EP)- Camille Trail
'Magic Trick' is an intimate and emotionally raw song about pushing someone away out of fear of losing them. Camille Trail is carving a path as one of Australia’s finest up-and-coming indie-folk-pop artists. Her recent Garrett Kato-produced offerings 'Gotta Get To Know You' and 'Twenties' have resulted in invitations to open for Ash Grunwald and Boy & Bear. Camille participated in Sounds Australia's Global Music Match (2022) and showcased at Folk Alliance Kansas City (2023) as well as Ireland’s Your Roots Are Showing (2024). She has been nominated for a Queensland Music Award and a Golden Guitar Award. "One of the nation’s most striking new voices,” says Andrew McMillen of The Australian.
SPEED - Squid the Kid
SPEED explores the "Jazz Drill" style with funky beats and slick flows. "The hook of the song even mentions streamer Ishowspeed, adding a humorous pop culture reference," says Squid the Kid. Emerging from South-East Naarm/Melbourne, Squid the Kid is for fans of Anderson .Paak, Mac Miller, and Cordae. Squid knows his way around a beat - navigating his way through with funky beats and slick flows bound to grab your attention.
Heatwave Pt. 1 - Pretty Moi
Originally written in 2018, "Heatwave Pt. 1" was brought to life in 2023. Formed in Brisbane and now based in Melbourne, Pretty Moi is a six-piece indie-rock band that defies genre boundaries and delivers an intoxicating blend of sounds. With a musical style that draws inspiration from various influences, including '60s psychedelic rock, classic soul, and global music, Pretty Moi is a band to watch.
