In today's fast-paced digital world, getting an early buzz around your music release is crucial. One of the best ways to create excitement and engage your audience before your official release is to leverage social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to get your music on these platforms before it officially drops.

Getting Your Single on Socials Early

Want your single on socials early, it's super simple!
If you are dropping a new one-track single, our customer support team can organise an early delivery to TikTok or Instagram

  • Simply email support@gyrostream.com
  • Specify the
    • Release title
    • Early release date for preview
    • TikTok preview timestamp (this will be 60 seconds total)

*Please note, an early delivery to Instagram using this method will allow people to listen to the track when adding to reels/stories. TikTok, only the specified 60 second snippet will be available to users.

If you are releasing an EP, Album, or 'waterfall' release and only want the one track to go live, please follow the steps below.

Getting Your Focus Track from EP/Album on Socials Early

Step 1: Create a New Release

First, log in to your GYROstream account and navigate to the release creation page. Follow the steps to create a new release, and a new UPC will be generated for you. This UPC will be unique to this specific pre-release, ensuring it’s separate from your official release.

Step 2: Select Your Delivery Targets

When selecting delivery targets, choose only 'Instagram' and 'TikTok (Social App)'. Do not select 'TikTok Music'. Focusing on Instagram and TikTok (Social App) ensures your pre-release content reaches the right audience at the right time.

Step 3: Use the Same ISRC Across Releases

In your official release setup, make sure you use the same ISRC as the one used for the pre-release. However, do not include Instagram or TikTok (Social) as delivery targets for the official release. Delivering the full release to these platforms early can create duplicate sounds, confusing your audience and potentially diluting your promotional efforts.

Using the same ISRCs maintains consistency and avoid any complications with tracking and royalties, this helps in consolidating streams and plays under a single identifier, ensuring your efforts are efficiently tracked.

Step 4: Prepare Your Social Media Version

It's important to ensure that the version you upload for Instagram and TikTok is exactly one minute in length. This prevents the full song from being accessible before the official release date. By offering a snippet, you create anticipation and encourage your audience to stay tuned for the full release.

Step 5: Promote, Promote, Promote!

Once your pre-release snippet is live on Instagram and TikTok, it’s time to promote! Use engaging captions, hashtags, and calls-to-action to encourage your followers to listen to the preview. Collaborate with influencers, create challenges, and engage with your audience’s comments and shares to maximise reach and engagement.

Conclusion

Using Instagram and TikTok for an early preview of your music release can be a game-changer in your promotional strategy. By carefully managing your delivery targets and ensuring consistent ISRC usage, you can create a seamless and exciting pre-release experience for your fans.
