Starting July 24th, Spotify will begin rolling out Countdown Pages to all eligible artists, marking a significant enhancement in how artists can engage with their audience and build anticipation for new releases. This rollout will be gradual, spanning over four weeks, ensuring that eligible artists will receive access to this new feature. Artist teams will be notified via a Spotify for Artists email once they gain access, and the Countdown Pages feature will be available for all eligible new releases going forward.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for Countdown Pages, artists must have at least 5,000 active listeners in the last 28 days. This active listener data can be found in the 'Segments' tab on Spotify for Artists under "active audience." Additionally, artists with over 700,000 monthly listeners will automatically receive access to Clips when they create a Countdown Page.
Key Features of Countdown Pages
- Pre-Release Analytics: Once a Countdown Page is published, artist teams can view pre-release stats under the Release page in Spotify for Artists. This includes all-time pre-saves and impressions, visualized over time, and the ability to compare pre-release performance to album performance.
- Improved Distribution: Countdown Pages will be accessible from various touchpoints within the Spotify app, including Home, Artist Headlines, and the Now Playing View, increasing visibility and engagement opportunities.
- Playable Singles on Countdown Pages: For Countdown Pages created with the "Show Tracklist" setting turned off, the tracklist will now display generic "Track X" titles, with any released music showing the track name and being playable.
- New Clips Upload Flow: For artists with access to Clips (those with over 700,000 monthly listeners), the Clips upload model is being revamped to focus on music first. Clips can now be tied to either a Countdown Page or an upcoming/released song, providing a seamless integration for promoting new music.
Post-Release Reporting
Spotify will continue to send emails showing post-release metrics, including Pre-saves to Stream percentages and total pre-saves numbers.
Conclusion
With the introduction of Countdown Pages, Spotify is offering a powerful new tool for artists to build pre-release hype and deepen connections with fans. By leveraging this feature, artists can effectively manage and promote their upcoming releases, reaching a global audience and turning pre-release anticipation into long-term fandom.
