Instagram has announced a new feature that will revolutionise the way you create Reels. Now, users can create Reels using multiple tracks from the Audio Library, making it easier than ever to showcase your creativity.
Elevate Your Creativity
With this update, you can add up to 20 tracks in a single Reel. Imagine the possibilities—layering different songs, combining various elements like text, stickers, and clips, all directly within the Instagram app. Here are some exciting ways to utilise this feature:
- Capture the essence of your NYC trip with multiple iconic New York songs.
- Mix music from the audio library with funny Original Audio quips
- Quickly change the mood of a Reel (e.g. ‘Before & After’).
- Use instrumental intros or catchy sections of a song multiple times.
- Create a album teaser with snippets from multiple songs or a greatest hits mix.
How to Create a Reel with Multiple Tracks
- Select Your First Track:
- Record a Reel and tap the Music icon to select your first audio track.
- You can also add your first track before you begin recording, after uploading video from your camera, through the Reels editor, or from audio pages.
- Add Additional Tracks:
- After selecting your first track, tap Edit video and select Add audio to include a second track.
- To add more tracks, tap the second track to unselect it (the yellow outline around it should disappear) and select Add audio. Repeat this for every additional track you want to add.
- Edit Your Tracks:
- Use the editor tool to place, trim, overlap, and adjust the volume of your tracks.
- Change or remove tracks before sharing your Reel by tapping Edit video, selecting the track, and either tapping Replace or Discard.
Notes:
- You can combine licensed music and original audio in your Reel’s audio mix.
- Reels with multiple tracks will display all tracks in the title of the audio.
- Lyrics can only be added for one track. If you add lyrics to a second track, the previously selected lyrics will be removed.
Creating Reels with Audio Mixes
- Use an Audio Mix from Another Reel:
- Watch someone else’s Reel and tap on the track title at the bottom of the Reel to go to the mix’s audio page.
- Tap Use audio mix to create your own Reel with the audio mix.
- Important Note:
- Audio mixes cannot have additional tracks added to them.
Audio Mixes and Public Accounts
If you have a public account, anyone can use your audio mixes in their Reels on Instagram. Keep in mind that audio mixes aren’t available on Facebook Reels, and a Reel on Instagram with audio mixes can’t be shared to Facebook.
Rollout and Updates
As with all new features, this will take a couple of days to roll out fully. Make sure your Instagram app is up to date to start using this exciting new feature.
Unleash your creativity with this new feature and transform your Reels into dynamic, multi-layered stories. For artists, this is a fantastic opportunity to engage with your audience in fresh and exciting ways. We can't wait to see what you create!
